| What should you consider when
laying an Engineered / Floating floor ? |
| Underlay: |
Floating floors require an underlay,
the standard underlay is a 3mm thick cellular polyethylene underlay.
When noise reduction is a consideration we have a range of sound
reducing underlays, these are particularly important in apartments
to reduce transmitted sound, not only do they reduce the noise
transmitted to rooms below they also reduce the sound transmitted
back into the room. When laying over underfloor heating please
consult 1926 Trading for the options available. |

Trims:

| Skirting / Beading: |
For the perfect finish with a floating
floor the skirting boards should be removed and when refitted
they will cover the expansion gap. If this is impractical we
have beadings, quadrants or scotias that can be fixed to the
existing skirting to cover the gap. We also have a range of
solid wood skirtings. |
| Door thresholds: |
To cover the transitions between
2 floors. |
| Radiator Pipes: |
When radiator pipes pass through
the floor Pipe Roses are available to cover the expansion gap. |
| Tools: |
The basic tools required in addition
to those normally found in a good DIY tool box are a jemmy/pullbar,
knocking block and wedges. We have 2 options the Kahrs Laying
Kit for single floors or professional grade tools for larger
areas. |
